On October 20, 2024, the Archdiocese of Montréal officially reopened the inquiry into an alleged miracle attributed to the intercession of Blessed Mother Émilie Tavernier-Gamelin. The opening of the inquiry was marked by a Eucharistic celebration presided by Archbishop Christian Lépine and concelebrated by Father Aleksander Dudik, Vice-Chancellor at the Archbishop's Office, together with many other priests of the archdiocese. Many Sisters of Providence, Associates, collaborators, and laity of the archdiocese were present at the Eucharistic celebration which was held at Cathédrale Marie Reine-du-Mond (Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral).
The alleged miracle occurred in 2002 following a novena to Blessed Émilie and in 2017, a diocesan inquiry took place. However, Vatican required that a new inquiry be made because of some technical issues. This process is the second stage towards the cause for canonization of Blessed Mother Émilie.
On October 7, 2001, Mother Émilie was beatified and declared "Blessed" by Pope John Paul II after a miracle in 1983 involving a thirteen-year-old boy named Yannick Fréchette who was miraculously healed from Leukemia.
